I'm in Montreal, Quebec tonight, sitting at the hotel restaurant, having a great (but overpriced) dinner. I'm in town because I'm part of the Just For Laughs Festival. It's my first time doing the festival and my first time in Canada.
The first show of the festival just ended. It went good. I felt good about it and so I wanted to celebrate which is why I'm here eating this dinner. By myself.
It's been such a ridiculously positive year for me that I constantly find myself asking, "Is this real?" That I get to be part of this festival feels SO surreal. The JFL Festival is something I used to say I wanted to do when I first started stand-up (10 years ago) and here I am doing it. It's crazy.
As I was flying yesterday over Toronto, I took a picture with my iPhone. I found it to be beautiful and moving. It's a perfect balance between dark and light.
In a weird way, I think this picture kind of captures what life can be sometimes, a perfect balance of negative and positive.
It kind of made me sit back and just soak up everything for a minute. This picture just spoke to me and I wanted to share it with you.
I'm pretty grateful to be where I am.
