Happy New Year everyone. It's still considered new, right? I mean, when radio stations change formats, they use the word new for months....
I won't talk about resolutions because frankly, I HATE the idea of resolutions. You shouldn't try to change something about yourself because it's January. You should want to change something about yourself because you want to.
And speaking of changes, I recently had a birthday. You never forget turning 21. I know that because I turned 21 years ago and I still remember it. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm getting to that age where the only way I can get into a nightclub is by telling the door guy that I'm looking for my underage daughter.
I haven't blogged in AGES. Frankly, I had too much to say with not enough time to say it. I've been really busy. I've been traveling a lot and I haven't had time to blog. It can be time-consuming. I had thought about doing a mini-podcast; kinda like an audio journal entry to talk about stuff but I haven't had time to look it up and see how hard it is to pull this off. Maybe I can do that I just do like 10-15 minutes every week. Sound interesting? Let me know if you guys would listen to it...
So what have I been up to? A lot.
2012 was a good year for me and if you ask anyone in stand-up, you'll know that good years are rare to come by. Hopefully 2013 will be just as good.
I love my agents and managers. I love the people around me. I'm going out on the road more which I couldn't be more excited about. I just got back from working in Austin at the Cap City Comedy Club (working with very funny people Andy Erickson and Brendan O'Grady). I'll be doing San Jose, Denver and Boston coming up soon, aside from working with my friend Kathleen Madigan on a couple dates throughout the year.
I'm also super excited to announce info about my Boston show, not only because I'll be in one of my favorite cities for one night only but because it's a very important night...you see:
I'LL BE TAPING A HALF HOUR SPECIAL FOR COMEDY CENTRAL THAT NIGHT! February 27th to be exact. If anyone is in the Boston area and wants to come to the taping, I'll post details about ticket info the moment I find out!
I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait! I don't even know how to express how happy I am about this and how it really hasn't hit me that this is actually happening. Even though I tape it at the end of February, it'll probably be a couple months till it airs. Not sure. I'll let you guys know.
I'll be doing shows around LA to run my set to prep for the special if you guys want to see what the hell I'll be doing for it and I'm also going to be at the San Jose IMPROV Feb. 22-24 just DAYS before the taping.
If anyone is interested in seeing the half hour before I tape it, keep an eye out for dates. I'll let you know when you can come and check it out.
I started doing stand-up in 2003. It's been a hard road full of ups and downs. I really hope this doesn't sound obnoxious because I really don't mean to be...but I want to say thank you to everyone that's ever come out to see me at a club, college, bar or restaurant. Sometimes a bunch of people show up, sometimes there's only one or two. ALL of you guys have helped me so much.
Sometimes I think we (as comics) don't let the audience know how much they matter. Without you guys and your support, there is no show. So thank you for helping me make this come true.
Thank you SO much.
